Western Road Red Route - Your Voice consultation report 2026
Background
A Red Route is proposed for implementation on Western Road, from Holland Road to Montpelier Road. This is proposed under an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) following the same process as the Red Route’s on London/Preston Road and Lewes Road. This consultation is to gather feedback on the proposals and initial design.
Methodology
Brighton & Hove City Council sent an information leaflet to addresses directly on Western Road and the surrounding area of the proposed changes. This leaflet included a detailed map of the proposed changes, and frequently asked questions. People were asked to go online to complete the consultation survey. This was also promoted on the Council website, Facebook, X & LinkedIn. People could also request a paper copy of the questionnaire with a pre-paid envelope to return. The consultation ran from 24 November 2025 – 4 January 2026.
